In short

Monica Calu is an active civil society member, with a background of more than ten years in defending the consumers’ rights. She has a degree in law and a degree in economics. She is the co-founder of two Romanian NGOs for consumer protection and a promoter for consumer’s rights and women’s rights. In 2019 she founded Consumers United/Consumatorii Uniti NGO in Romania and she is the CEO of this organization ever since. She works towards in changing consumer protection laws and legislation in Romania. She has written numerous articles aimed at informing and educating consumers in Romania and is author of consumer protection law related paper works. Monica’s fields of expertise include financial services for consumers, socio-economic development, financial inclusion and sustainable finance.
